Seeeeee, Signs and a few "attention getters" work! You got our message out. Now you need help get this message to Glenn Beck.
Sept. 15th, on his TV show, Glenn Beck urged the Tea Party people to stop carrying signs and wearing "Tea" Shirts. I wrote him the following letter. If you agree . . . please let him know how we feel and let others know so they can too. I am sure there are points that I missed so feel free to add your 2 cents worth. Beck has a lot of influence over the movement. -- Mike
Dear Glenn,
I don't care if you read this on the air or not. I just want you to know how we feel out here.
You are so very wrong about not wearing "Tea" shirts or carrying signs. Just simply marching down the street says nothing. How do you propose we let our views be known? Chanting "What do we Want? . . . When do we Want it?" No, we must "carry" our message. The tea party demonstrations have worked, why would you want us to change a winning strategy?
Your 8/28 event was wonderful but even though there were no signs at that event the news coverage had signs in almost every article and TV story. They had to look long and hard, but they found some. Some I am sure were even planted. Unless WE identify our positions the press will identify them for us. The press even said that "You HAD no message."
I also disagree about A few colorful "Statue of Liberty" costumes and the like. Every parade, march or demonstration needs a little color. How do you get the attention of someone? Even if the press uses these costumes in an attempt to make us look bad there is an old saying . . . "Just spell the name right . . . TEA PARTY." We are here and we have made a difference. It is getting harder and harder for them to ignore us.
Unions even carry signs when they protest. Their signs all say the exact same thing and they are printed by the union organizers. Imagine if we did that, the criticism we would get. Please do not attempt to change how the Tea Parties work. THEY ARE WORKING. Reply to this
