Hey Gunners,
This Memorial Day, Iremembered.
I remembered my dad. He used his dead brother'sbirth certificate to join the Navy at age 15 and fought in WWII. Iremembered my uncles, all of whom were first generation Americans orborn in "the old country" and were sent to fight their relatives inEurope. My Uncle Tom earned a Silver Star there. I remembered my time inthe Marine Corps. I remembered the morning I was asked to raise theFlag at Arlington National Cemetery. It was a supreme honor.
Iremembered what David Corn wrote last week:
"So what the hell dothese conservatives want out of Obama? And does it matter if Obamathrows some leaves on a tomb?"
I remembered May 2006 while I wasat PBS Headquarters and a PBS employee said to me, "If you are stupidenough to join the military then you deserve to die."
I paid myMemorial Day respects at a ceremony in Colonial Beach, VA then went toMount Vernon, VA where I toured the Washington mansion with Big John, aVietnam Vet who road his Harley from Oklahoma to ride in RollingThunder.
I would like to know what you remembered on MemorialDay. We have a discussion section on our Guns & Patriotsfan page and you can post what you did. You can find it here.
Never forget,
